What IS That Big Machine on Route 202?

It's instrumental in forming the roadway.

Motorists traveling along the East Whiteland section of Route 202 might have noticed the giant yellow piece of equipment sitting on the southern side of the roadway.

What is that thing?

According to PennDOT spokesperson Gene Blaum, the machine is called a concrete slip-form paver. It’s used to form the concrete roadbed and smooth the surface.

Learn more about the machine on the website of its manufacturer, Gomaco.
