Yellow Springs Road Closures In Effect July 9-13

Crews will be installing overhead beams as part of the new turnpike-Route 29 interchange.

Editor's note: The following information comes from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. Also note that there will be construction work at the Downingtown interchange during the same time period.

Yellow Springs Road will be closed and traffic detoured for placement of bridge beams July 9-13.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission reports that work to set overhead bridge beams on the new ramps connecting the Turnpike mainline (Interstate 76) to State Route 29 in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships, Chester County, will result in daytime closures on Yellow Springs Road July 9-13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The daytime closures are needed to set beams over live traffic without jeopardizing worker and motorist safety.

The work is part of the Turnpike Commission’s project to construct an all-electronic (E-ZPass only) interchange at Route 29, to be designated as Exit #320 when it opens in November. In April, crews began setting steel beams for the new westbound on and off ramps and eastbound off-ramp where it crosses the local road.

Yellow Springs Road will be detoured over North Valley Road, East Swedesford Road, and Route 29 (Morehall Road). Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area; to avoid delays seek alternate routes. The work is weather permitting and the schedule is subject to change.
