2 Days Left in The Foundation’s Campaign for Schools

With two days left in The Foundation at Great Valley’s Spring Campaign, the Great Valley community has donated more than $90,000 to help fund innovation in schools.

In order to support new GVSD initiatives proposed by staff, The Foundation’s goal is to raise $250,000 by this Wednesday, April 30th.  Lofty, yes. But it’s a goal that The Foundation reached in a prior campaign.

“The Great Valley community began giving private donations to our public schools in the spring of 2012 when our school district faced a budget crisis and the possibility of important programs being cut,” said John Vestri, president of The Foundation at Great Valley. “The community came out in force and donated more than $270,000 for the Write the Future campaign, which kept those important programs in our schools.”

Vestri says that the need for innovation in schools across the country is growing at a faster pace than tax dollars can keep up with.

“The districts that are staying in front of the curve are those that have introduced foundations to allow private funding for truly innovative programs that inspire students to succeed in today’s changing world. Great Valley has always valued its quality schools, and their support of The Foundation is tangible evidence of that,” said Vestri.

This month, The Foundation released informational videos showing donation dollars at work in GVSD schools.

The videos were professionally produced by Malvern marketing firm Stream Companies - owned by GVSD alumni Jason Brennan and David Regn. Each video highlights a grant awarded for this school year, including:

  • A cart outfitted with 30 iPads in each elementary school
  • Robotics kits for a new GVHS engineering course called Honors Principles of Engineering
  • Robotics Club at Great Valley Middle School
  • Integration and Motor Coordination Equipment for students in autistic support classrooms
  • iCompose music program at Great Valley Middle School

"The videos represent a milestone for The Foundation," said Vestri. "Our community has worked together to really do something special here in Great Valley. We are also showing that our community truly values excellence in education. It's why we choose to live here, and it's why business and industry thrives here."
