Malvern Woman Dies at 101

Remembering a lifelong Malvern resident.

Sadie Anna Farra, age 101, died peacefully on July 19, 2013 at Brandywine Hall, West Chester.  

She was born June 22, 1912 in Greentree, PA. to Dilworth Farra and Edith Lindsley Farra. In addition to her parents, sisters Eleanor MacFarland and Harriet Peirson, and a brother, Jared, predeceased her.  

A lifelong Malvern resident, Sadie moved there with her family in a horse drawn wagon. As a God-loving and independent woman, she was a lifetime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and a volunteer for Malvern Fire Company’s Woman’s Auxiliary. Sadie retired from the Matthey Bishop Company, at age 65, and devoted the rest of her life to volunteering and helping others.

A service and celebration of Sadie’s life will be held Tuesday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 400 Lancaster Ave, Malvern, PA. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sadie’s name can be sent to the following organizations: Malvern Fire Company, 424 E. King Street, Malvern, PA  19355; York County Special Olympics, 400 Mulberry Street, York, PA  17403, or Covenant Presbyterian Church, 400 Lancaster Ave, Malvern, PA  19355.
