My name is Molly Truitt, an Immaculata University Freshman, currently enrolled in Contemporary Issues in Professional writing, where we had discussed the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream Speech." Freshman Rachel Kelly, 18, said "It's terrifying to think that people would treat others horribly only because of their skin color. They could not change what they were born with. Everyday they woke up not wanting to go outside because of the hostility towards them was so fierce and powerful that it scared them... I watched some of the speeches but what really caught my attention was President Clinton's Speech. He was right in saying that Dr. King would be disappointed in us." As you can see, racism still impacts us and Until we learn to give everyone the equal opportunity and respect, that is when we had learned to defeat racism.
