Confessing to murder on Facebook?

I am a senior at Immaculata University in Malvern, PA, currently enrolled in Contemporary Issues in Professional Writing. According to U.S. News.com, On September 3, 2013, Matt Cordle, 22, released a video via Facebook, admitting to the vehicular manslaughter of 61 year old Vincent Canzani, while drunk driving. Cordle accepts all charges that will most likely be brought against him and plans to be "locked up for a very long time". Fellow senior, Nolan Sauerzopf, 21, remarked, "To plead guilty to anything takes courage, especially manslaughter. But, doing it on the internet, now that takes guts. If there were more people like him the world would be a better place." Though many see this confession as a work of courage, other see it as a ploy to lessen the harshness of any possible charges to be brougth against him. "If he admitted to it, he should stop wasting our tax dollars on lawyers, quit making videos, and just go to prison already." thought Kathy Harrigan, IU Secretary of the Dean. Cordle may be breaking ground in means of public confessions, but there are still naysayers who believe his ways are not to be followed.
