"I Have a Dream" 50th Anniversary

I am Marie Hoban, a junior at Immaculata University enrolled in Contemporary Issues in professional writing, and while examining the significance surrounding the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech this week I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Stephen Miles, 47, professor of Theology at Immaculata.

Dr. Miles expressed his appreciation towards President Obama regarding his remarks on economic justice as an issue of great importance to our nation today just as social justice was fifty years ago.

I believe the movement lead by Dr. King and continued by the people of the United States as a guide for the initiation of change in any current sociopolitical matters concerning our nation, as it is proof that change can only truly occur when we unite in maintaining the ethical standards upon which our country was built.
