A hunter in Lackawanna County last month killed the largest bear of the state’s black bear season.

The bear shot and killed by Daniel Beavers weighed in at 772 pounds, the Pennsylvania Game Commission said.

The bear’s skull is being measured, The Times-Tribune reported, and Beaver should hear in about two months whether the bear’s skull size is a world record.

Black bear season ran from Nov. 23 to 27. Each licensed hunter was limited to only one bear kill.
