Big Accident on 202 in Construction Zone

At least one person is reported injured.

Police and fire rescue crews are on the scene of a serious multi vehicle accident on Route 202 at Route 29 near Cedar Hollow Road near the  Tredyffrin Township/Malver border.  A tractor trailer is overturned and completely blocking the two southbound lanes. Police say at least one person has ben injured.  The nature and extent of the injuries are not yet known.

Tredyffrin Township Police advice everyone to avoid 202 all together in the south bound lanes (towards West Chester) through Tredyffrin Township and Northbound 202 between Malvern and Tredyffrin Township.

The back-up begins before route 252.  Northbound traffic should also avoid route 202 completely between Malvern and Tredyffrin Township.

Rescue crews from Paoli and East Whitleland as well as first reponders from Berwyn Fire Companies were on the scene.  The accident was in the narrowed lanes/"cattle chute" section of construction on 202 near Cedar Hollow Road.

Fox 29 News is reporting that a medical helicopter was called in to airlift a patient at about 9:45 a.m.. The SkyFox helicopter over the scene shows a severely damaged SUV that appears to have collided with the tractor trailer.

An image on the 6ABC/Action News' Website shows another passenger vehicle tht appears to be heavily damaged and pushed behind the concrete barrier. Rescue crews have opened the concrete barrier and moved damaged vehicles into the northbound lanes.

It appears that 202 will be a horrible traffic mess until at least 11 a.m..
Traffic is at a standstill and cars in the back up have no way out.  Because of the construction zone there is no shoulder and no exit.
