Blotter: Copper Rain Spouts Stolen

The following arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

DUI… On May 26 at 12:51 a.m., police observed a vehicle driving west on the 100 block of W. King Street with no headlights. Police stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, a 22-year-old East Whiteland resident. Police smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver. Police observed a green leafy substance on the drivers lap, later determined to be marijuana.  The driver failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Paoli Hospital for blood tests.

Theft… On May 30, National Bank of Malvern reported that someone removed and stole a copper rain spout from the building overnight. The rain spout was over 15 feet in length.

DUI Crash… On May 30 at 7:41 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries in the 200 block of West King Street. Upon arrival, police observed a Chevrolet Express work van on the front lawn of 226 W. King Street. The driver, a 26-year-old Conshocken resident, failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Paoli Hospital for blood tests. The driver of a Chevrolet Envoy, also involved in the crash, was treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries. It was determined through an investigation that the Express driver caused the accident.

Burglary… On May 31, a resident of Kingsbury Condominiums reported that between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on May 30 someone stole jewelry from inside her condo.

Theft… On May 31, a business owner in the 100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue reported that someone stole scrap metal from the rear of the building. The items were not secured.

Theft… On June 1, a resident of the unit block of Monument Avenue reported that between May 29 and 31, someone removed and stole a copper rain spout from the side of the house. The rain spout was over 20 feet in length.

Vandalism... On June 2 at 11:20 p.m., at 101 W. King St., a pay phone in the Malvern Shopping Center was broken off its base and lying on sidewalk. The phone had not been like this earlier during officer's tour, around 11:05 p.m. (Note: The property owner said , and the phone simply rotted off its base.)

Burglary... On June 7, police received a report that around $535 of alcohol had been stolen from Malvern Prep, around 3 a.m. The liquor had been purchased for events, and was stolen from a maintenance building. Police found palm prints, which were sent to county detectives.
