Cash Coming to the Malvern Fire Company

Malvern's fire department just got a little help in its fire fighting efforts.

The state is trying to help the Malvern Fire Company battle brushfires in the area.

The Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry has awarred the fire company $750 to "held guard agains the threat of fires in forests and undeveloped." The grant, which is open to communities across the state with less than 10,000 residents, applies to over 130 volunteer fire companies across the state, including three in chester county.

“The readiness of these men and women is demonstrated every spring and summer when they answer assistance calls coming from other states, while also responding regularly to local woodland and brush fires,” DCNR Acting Secretary Ellen Ferretti said in a release. “These grants allow firefighters from smaller companies to direct more funding toward public safety and training.”
