High School Safe, Says Superintendent

Police are at the school as part of an off-campus investigation.

Update (Friday, Nov 15, 1:07 p.m.) Great Valley School District Superintendent Alan J. Lonoconus has released the following statement regarding police at Great Valley High School:

"Visitors to the high school campus may have noticed a police presence this morning. In an effort to limit rumors, we are emailing to share information with you.

Both state and local police were on site at the high school to conduct a meeting in our main office conference room. The police meeting had nothing to do with an event at the high school; rather it pertained to an investigation about a member of our community for which some members of the high school community may have information.

Please be assured that the high school is secure and there is no threat to our school community."

Our original story is posted below.

Despite a police presence at Great Valley High School, the school is not under lockdown, according to principal Michael Flick.

“We are not in a lockdown situation,” he said in a phone call Friday afternoon.

East Whiteland Township police were using a high school conference room as part of an investigation not connected to the high school, he said.

The East Whiteland Police Department directed requests for comments to the school.
