Malvern Police Blotter: A Bad Weekend for Silver Volkswagens

Suspicious Condition... A Charleston Green resident reported hearing gunshots the night of Saturday, April 23. Police are investigating.

DUI... Malvern police pulled over a silver 2001 Volkswagen Passat being driven without taillights Saturday, April 23, at 2:50 a.m. Officers detected the odor of alcohol on the driver, 19-year-old Gabriel Citron-Perez, of Berwyn. After failing field sobriety tests, Citron-Perez was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of alcohol, making obscene gestures, annoyance and driving without taillights.

DUI... On Sunday, April 24, at 1:24 a.m., a silver 2007 Volkswagen Golf, lost control and crashed through the guard rail on North Warren Avenue, near Quaker Lane, landing in a ditch. No serious injuries were reported. The driver, David Strowhower, 22, of Newtown Square, had a suspended driver's license from a previous DUI. He was charged with driving under the influence and taken to Paoli Hospital for blood tests.

Public Drunkenness... Borough resident Alvaro Almirin, 21, a passenger in the silver Golf in the previous report, exited the vehicle after the crash and was found by another officer walking down the roadway. He was arrested for public drunkenness.
