Malvern Police Blotter: "A Quiet Week"

Incidents from Jan. 12-18 constituted a relatively mild week for Malvern police, according to Chief McMahon.

Driving Under the Influence

At 2:01 a.m. on Feb. 12, officers observed a 2002 Acura RSX fail to signal and come to a stop as it turned onto South Warren Avenue from First Avenue. Officers suspected the driver, Anthony Calise, 36, of Aston, was driving under the influence. After failing field sobriety tests, he was charged and taken to Paoli Hospital for blood testing.

On Feb. 18, Anne Brickley, 42, of Paoli, was pulled over in her 2008 Jeep Wrangler on Old Lincoln Highway at Bridge Street after traveling at an unsafe speed and failing to stop at a posted stop sign. Officers suspected she was driving under the influence, administered field sobriety tests, and brought her to Paoli Hospital for blood testing.

Harassment by Communication

On Feb. 18, police received a report of harassment by communication. The Police Department is withholding additional details as the suspect has not been found.

Vehicle Accidents

At 9 a.m. on Feb. 16, a 2008 Nissan Sentra and a 2010 Subaru had a minor collision at the intersection of East King Street and Rutland Avenue. Both vehicles sustained minor damage to side-view mirrors.

At 3:15 p.m. on Feb. 18, a Krapf school bus carrying two young children and a 2005 Ford Explorer both sustained minor scraping during an accident on Church Street.

At 7:30 p.m., a driver in a 1996 Ford Taurus hit and killed a deer on Paoli Pike. The vehicle sustained severe damage to the windshield, driver’s side headlamp and hood. Both passenger and driver airbags deployed, but no medical attention was required.
