Malvern Police Blotter: No Need For New Jersey

A lacrosse jersey stolen off a Malvern Prep statue is returned.

Disorderly conduct... On May 7, two men stole a lacrosse jersey from a statue at Malvern Prep around 3:30 p.m. They were caught on tape and their license plate was captured. The theft was reported to police May 10. Brendan O'Callaghan, 19, of Brookhave, and Michael Christopher Turvey, 20, of Holmes, agreed to bring the jersey back. Both were cited for disorderly conduct.

Public Drunkenness... On May 9 at 6:44 p.m., residents in the area of Kinsbury Condominiums reported seeing a man sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the complex. John Drabick, 49, of Darby, told police he was trying to "find some companionship." His speech was slurred and incoherent, and the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol. His father was called to pick him up.

DUI... On May 13 at 1:43 a.m., a Malvern Police officer had to swerve out of the way of a 1983 Mercedes Benz crossing the center lane as it traveled on West King Street. The officer pulled over the vehicle and administered field sobriety tests on the driver. He failed the tests, was arrested for driving under the influence and was taken to Paoli Hospital for blood tests.

Possession of Marijuana... On May 15 at 5:32 p.m., Malvern Police pulled over a car driven by Matthew Chicchi, 35, of Philadelphia, after he failed to stop when driving through an intersection at Warren Avenue and Bridge Street. When administering the traffic stop, he detected an odor of marijuana, and found a green, leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana. Chicchi was charged with possession of marijuana.

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty.
