Man Tried to Hide Lit Joint by Eating It, Police Say
Police say a Malvern man's tongue turned green and was burnt after he allegedly ate a lit marijuana joint in an attempt to hide it from police.
n an attempt to conceal it, Lower Saucon Township Police say a Malvern, Chester County, man ate a lit marijuana joint he had been smoking.
In a news release, police said a 20-year-old man, of the first block of Frazer Avenue, ate the joint after police stopped him for erratic driving on Route 378 near the Interstate 78 overpass.
Police said "officers smelled burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle and observed his nervous demeanor," leading them to question him further.
"He admitted to smoking marijuana before being stopped and told officers that he ate the remainder of the marijuana joint," police said, adding that "the man's tongue was observed to be green in color and several bumps indicated that [he] may have burned his tongue when eating the joint."
Officers allegedly also found a marijuana smoking pipe in Herrick's car, and police said he failed field sobriety tests.
A blood test "confirmed that he was manifestly under the influence of marijuana while operating his vehicle, which rendered him incapable of safely driving," the press release said.
The man has been charged with DUI, according to police.
