GVSD Employee Charged With Indecent Assault

According to court documents, Matthew Lewis, 27, a technology specialist at Great Valley School District, was charged Thursday with endangering the welfare of children, a felony.

He was also charged with several misdemeanors, including indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, indecent exposure and corruption of minors.

The charges stem from incidents in July 2006 and July 2007. The superintendent has indicated the offenses are unrelated to the district. The arresting agency listed in the court documents is the Pennsylvania State Police's Avondale Barracks.

Multiple Great Valley parents reportedly received the following email Thursday afternoon from superintendent Alan Lonoconus:

Dear Parents,

This email is intended to keep you informed about a matter you may soon read or hear about in the local news or community. While the information that can be legally shared with you is limited, the School District wanted to provide you with this notice.

Today, the Pennsylvania State Police informed the Great Valley School District that the Commonwealth has filed charges against Matthew Lewis, a school district computer technician. Upon advice of counsel, we cannot comment on the details of the charges, except to say that they are in no way related to any conduct or behavior involving the Great Valley School District. Upon being notified of the charges, Mr. Lewis was placed on administrative leave from his duties in the Great Valley School District and the School District will await the outcome of the criminal proceedings.
