Police Warn of IRS Scammer Phone Calls in Malvern

One victim was hit up for $7,000

Tredyffrin Police are investigating a case of fraud and warning the public about a scam involving fake threats from someone pretending to represent the IRS.

According to Tredyffrin Police a victim in the 2000 block Pine View Road in Malvern reported getting a phone call from an unkown source.  The caller told the victim that they owned $7,000 to the IRS.

The call came a little afternoon noon on December 4.  According to police "the victim was instructed to use 'Money Pak' and to call a phone number when the money was ready." 

Police are urging residents to beware of scams similar to this – particularly over the phone.
