'Suspicious' Powder Delivered to MetLife-Area Hotels Likely Cornstarch

New Jersey State Police issued a warning Friday afternoon that they are investigating 'several' locations that received suspicious letters and substances.

A suspicious white substance delivered to hotels around MetLife Stadium Friday morning was likely cornstarch, authorities told NorthJersey.com.

According to the report, the substances were delivered to two hotels in Carlstadt and one in East Rutherford. County officials, the FBI, and the New Jersey State Police are continuing to investigate the deliveries, it said.

State authorities are investigating several “suspicious letters and substances” that they said have been delivered to several locations throughout New Jersey, the NJ State Police said in an alert Friday afternoon.

According to the alert, the Joint Terrorism task force and hazard material units have responded to the locations and are securing them.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the letters and substances, the alert said.

NJ State Police say authorities are “thoroughly” investigating the deliveries, and will release more information once it becomes available, the alert said.
