Trespasser Causes Fire, Police Say

The following information is provided by the West Chester Police Department.

West Chester police arrested a man on trespassing charges when he started a fire at a West Chester home.

According to a report from the department, police responded to a call of a man burning a fire on the front porch of a N Benjamin Drive home. Upon arrival, police found a 26-year-old man and determined that he did not have permission to be on the property.

Police say that the man was intoxicated and had removed items from the exterior of the house and burned them on the porch to start a fire. The man is charged with trespassing, criminal mischief and false identification and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
