What do you get when you combine a group of emergency responders from Malvern and nearby municipalities, members of the public, a helicopter and a Queen "Greatest Hits" album?

The answer is the 10th annual Malvern Public Safety Day and Open House, held Saturday at Malvern Fire Company. Dozens of local families came out to enjoy some free food, check out the big fire trucks and watch firefighters extinguish a blazing house fire.

The event took place from noon to 4 p.m., and a few rain drops fell just as the trucks rolled out at the conclusion. An emergency situation that occurred in a nearby town kept some scheduled guests, including the Pennsylvania State Police, from attending. Plenty of others were able to make it, though, including members of the Chester County Sheriff's Office and the .
