Willistown Police: TV Thief Arrested After DNA Match

A 2009 burglary case advanced this month after blood found at the crime scene was matched to a Philadephia man.

Blood stains found on the window of a Dutton Mill Road burglary scene in 2009 led Willistown Police to the alleged perpetrator last week.

Shane Dougherty, of the 600 block of 18th Street in Philadelphia, was arrested April 4 and charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespassing and receiving stolen property. He is accused of stealing a 42" flat-screen television from a home on the 200 block of Dutton Mill Road on August 31, 2009.

Police submitted blood samples found on the rear window of the burglarized home for DNA testing and were notified in January 2011 by the Pennsylvania State Police of a hit. Dougherty was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Chester Darlington and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
