Breitbart: Ann Romney Called Malvern Woman on Her Birthday

The candidate's wife offered 79th birthday wishes to a supporter, according to a letter published on the website Big Goverment.

Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential candidate Gov. Mitt Romney, reportedly reached out to a Malvern woman on her birthday last weekend.

The Breitbart.com web publication Big Government on Tuesday printed a letter from the woman's son, who described the call and the circumstances behind it:

On, October 20, 2012, the night of my mother’s 79th birthday, Ann Romney called, wished her a happy birthday, and thanked my mother for her support of Mitt. They chatted for a little while, as Mrs. Romney was concerned about my mother’s failing health. When their conversation was over my mother was visible moved by this act of kindness and how special she felt on her birthday.

Big Government, a news and opinion site founded by the late conservative publisher and provocateur Andrew Breitbart, does not name the woman who received the call, but the letter is signed "Eric Mercer (Pennsylvania)."

According to Mercer, the Romney campaign offered the call after he emailed to say how excited his mother was to vote for Mitt Romney in what is likely her final election.
