How to Drive in the Snow Without Crashing
The county has released some tips to keep your car in control in case of snow.
If the National Weather Service’s report is correct, eastern Chester County could see as many as 8 inches of snow before Saturday morning.
It goes without saying, but if it doesn’t look safe to drive, it’s probably best not to. That said, if you’ve got to be on the road, Chester County has released its tips for safe snow driving.
Their advice includes:

- Decrease your speed and leave plenty of room to stop. Allow at least three times more space than usual between you and the car in front of you.
- Brake gently to avoid skidding. If your wheels start to lock up, ease off the brake.
- Turn on your lights so that other motorists can see you more clearly.
(Editor’s Note: as a product of Western New York, where Lake Ontario blasts us with snow more or less every day between November and early April, I cannot express how useful a gentle foot on the brake is when the roads get bad.)
