New Stop Sign Proposed in Newtown Square After Fatal Crash

One township supervisor said it has almost zero chance of happening.

Newtown Township supervisors on Monday night discussed adding a stop sign on Goshen Road, near a the site of a recent involving a Willistown man.

One of the board members lives near the crash site, according to :

Supervisor George Wood, who resides by the scene of the crash off of Echo Valley Lane and Goshen Road, suggested placing a stop sign on Goshen Road by Echo Valley going westbound.

According to Wood, many of the accidents have ended up on his property. "All of those accidents are tragic but they occur, I believe, because as you round that curve and you're going downhill you pick up speed where you wouldn't otherwise if you're on flat surface or going uphill."

Supervisor John Nawn said the intersection probably wouldn't meet certain requirements, including accident frequency, to install a stop sign, but another type of warning sign would be more feasible.
