Senator Bob Casey is one of 50 U.S. Senators calling on the National Football League to formally endorse a name change of the Washington Redskins franchise.

In a letter to the NFL, Casey and his fellow lawmakers urged the NFL to follow the example of the National Basketball Association and send “a clear message against racism in sports.”

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently banned Los Angeles Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling from the league for his racist comments about African-Americans.

“Today, we urge you and the National Football League to send the same clear message as the NBA did: that racism and bigotry have no place in professional sports,” the Senators wrote. “It’s time for the NFL to endorse a name change for the Washington, D.C. football team.

Civil rights organizations and Native American tribes across the nation have called on the Washington football team to change its name.

“Now is the time for the NFL to act,” the Senators wrote. “The Washington, D.C. football team is on the wrong side of history. What message does it send to punish slurs against African Americans while endorsing slurs against Native Americans?”

Great idea...get rid of the collective memory of history and those savages. I would rather do so for du mb as esses instead, though.

With all the problems for Congress and the Senate to handle like Immigration, Education funding, the Budget and messing with Veterans Benefits you chose to intimidate the owner of a football team to change it's name that has been around since 1933 that it is racist. Who is it racist to or are you trying to make a name for yourself. Now you are trying to put us behind the Iron Curtain taking away our rights and force us to change because a few knot heads in Washington thinks it's racist in their eyes. The name of the team is probably older than most of the knot heads pushing to change it! If this is the best you can find to do in the Senate you are in the wrong business and are receiving pay on false pretenses.

Here's a radical idea. How about focusing on creating decent jobs and reducing government debt, and forget about stupid social pandering. Do the job you were elected to do, you doofus.

Sen. Casey should focus on the top issues going on in Washington, that's what he is there for! Let the football league alone......

Sen. Casey doesn't bother to read emails, he and his staff just sends boilerplate about the "subject". Try this - enter a subject and write about something entirely different, you will get a reply about the "subject" not the content. What a jerk.
