Free Laser, Light and Sound Showcase at Malvern Prep

Laser chess, mind-boggling optical illusions and LED fingertips will entertain families on Feb. 20.

On Wednesday, Feb. 20, Malvern Prep will host one of its most popular public events, a Laser Light and Sound Showcase organized by juniors and seniors at the school.

Physics teacher Kevin Quinn shared in an email what attendees can expect at the showcase, which is geared to children in kindergarten through 8th grade:

In the past, demonstrations have ranged from laser beam trapping water fountains to mind boggling optical illusions. Games have included “Laser Chess” and “Refraction Darts.”
There will also be a live student DJ, professional lighting effects, and an assortment of toys and giveaways like glow-necklaces, diffraction glasses, and LED fingertips!
Concessions are available so plan on getting dinner and/or snacks at the event.

The event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, but donations will benefit the Royer-Greaves School for Blind and the Clarke School for Hearing and Speech. For more details, read the Patch event listing.
