Great Valley Students Preparing for Denmark Trip

The students leave Wednesday, and Danish students will come to America.

Students in Great Valley High School are preparing to head to Denmark for a long-running exchange program, the Daily Local reports:

In the fall of 1995, Ole Jelby, a teacher from Holte Gymnasium in Denmark, contacted Great Valley High School in East Whiteland about coordinating a student exchange. He visited that spring and the two schools developed a program where each group of students would visit the other country for 10 days.

The first exchange occurred in the 1996-1997 school year, and although Great Valley exchanges with a different school in Denmark today, the Chester County students leave this Wednesday for the 17th year of the program.

And Great Valley isn't the only local school with an exchange program:

While Great Valley prepares for the culmination of its well established exchange program, Villa Maria Academy in Malvern just finished hosting two exchange students for the first time – Pilar Santamaria and Ana Gabriela Lara from Colegio San Agustin preparatory school in Panama City.
