Local Students Make Christmas Brighter for Others

Devon Prep students volunteer in big giving campaign

Editor's Note: The following information was provided by Deon Prep.

During the weeks before Christmas Devon Prep’s Christian Action Program (CAP) sponsored a Giving Tree collection of gifts for those less fortunate. With the help of students, faculty, staff, and parents, CAP collected more than 200 gifts, including new clothing, hats, gloves, scarves and more. The students also shopped for and wrapped many of the gifts.  Several CAP members delivered the wrapped packages to St. Elizabeth's Community Center in North Philadelphia and Safe Harbor Shelter of Chester County during the week before Christmas.

More than 50 students in grades six through 12 participate in CAP, which provides students with the opportunity to care for and help those less fortunate. In addition to collecting holiday gifts, the students involved in CAP also run a Thanksgiving food drive, sponsor fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, collect school supplies for inner-city students in need, participate in area fundraisers, and run clothing drives for those in need.
