Malvern Residents On Deans' Lists

A round-up of young Malvern residents earning high marks at school.

Many colleges and universities send out news bulletins about students who have made dean's list or otherwise excelled academically. Here's a collection of recent ones specific to the Malvern area.

  • Elizabeth Schew (Freshman) from Malvern, PA was named to the Dean's List at the University of New Haven for the fall 2011 semester. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean's List.
  • Malvern resident Courtney Hanscom was named to the dean's list for the 2011 fall semester at Messiah College. Hanscom is a junior majoring in psychology. Dean's list is earned by receiving a 3.6 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Herman Goldner of Malvern, PA, a junior Engineering Management major at York College of Pennsylvania, has been named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2011 semester.
  • Jamie Frees of Malvern, PA, Senior, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. David M. Frees, Anthropology, was recognized for academic excellence and achieving a grade point average of 3.4 or higher for the semester.
  • Shannon J. Raftery, of Malvern, Pa., a freshman at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, has been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester.
  • Julie Ann Hughes, of Malvern, Pa., graduated alongside 468 Millersville University of Pennsylvania students during the fall 2011 undergraduate commencement ceremony, held Sunday, December 18 in Millersville's Pucillo Gymnasium. Hughes earned a bachelor of science degree in biology.
  • Colin Johnson, a sophomore general studies major of Malvern, was named to Lycoming College's dean's list for the fall semester. The dean's list is issued at the close of each semester in recognition of superior scholarship. Students make the dean's list if they complete at least four letter-graded courses and earn a minimum grade point average of 3.50 for the semester.
