More Malvern Residents On Deans' Lists

A round-up of young Malvern residents earning high marks at school.

Many colleges and universities send out news bulletins about students who have made dean's list or otherwise excelled academically. Here's a collection of recent ones specific to the Malvern area.

  • Wilkes University Provost Reynold Verret announces the Dean's List for the Fall 2011 Semester. The university extends its congratulations to Paige Kessler, of Malvern, Pa. To be named to the Dean's List, students must obtain a minimum 3.4 GPA and carry at least 12 credits.
  • Christine Sobieck of Malvern has been honored with placement on the Dean's List at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., for the fall 2011 semester. Sobieck, a member of the Class of 2012, is pursuing a major in History. To earn Dean's List honors, a student must complete at least three graded courses and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above.
  • The following local residents were among over 1800 students from Wake Forest University who made the Fall Dean's List:

  • Laurel McLaughlin, a resident of Malvern, PA
  • Pamela Bunten, a resident of Malvern, PA
  • Kelsey Veno, a resident of Malvern, PA
  • The following area students have been named to the dean's list for the fall 2011 semester at the University of Vermont. To be named to the dean's lists, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.
    • Serena M. DiMattia of Malvern, PA, a sophmore majoring in Microbiology in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences.
    • Keith C. Macchione of Malvern, PA, a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering & Mathematic Sciences.
    • Jillian K. Nyman of Malvern, PA, a senior majoring in Dietetics Nutrition & Food Sciences in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences.
    • Christopher J. Zarrilli of Malvern, PA, a first-year student majoring in Spanish in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • George McHugh of Malvern has been named to the Dean's List at The University of Scranton, which recognizes students for academic excellence during the 2011 fall semester. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the Dean's List.
  • Several local students have been named to the University of Delaware's Dean's List for Fall 2011. To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above for the semester. Those students include:

  • Kathryn Compton, of Malvern, has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean's Honor list for outstanding academic achievement in Fall 2011. Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester's work are placed on the College's Dean's Honor List.
  • Megan Dormond of Malvern has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean's Commendation List for outstanding academic achievement in the Fall 2011. Gettysburg College students with a quality point average of 3.33 or higher for a semester's work are placed on the College's Dean's Commendation List.
  • Michael Aaron Sachs of Malvern has been named to the President's List at Clemson University for the fall 2011 semester. Sachs is majoring in Management (General Management Emphasis). To be named to the President's List, a student must achieve a 4.0 (all As) grade-point average.
