At its meeting on Aug. 20, the Great Valley Board of School Directors approved the appointment of Amanda Pierce as the assistant principal of Great Valley Middle School. Pierce fills the position vacated by Kyle Hammond earlier this year.

Pierce has been with the Great Valley School District since 2009 and prior to the assistant principal position worked as a secondary mathematics resource teacher. In that role, she collaborated with math teachers to make instructional decisions for students based on assessment results. She also worked to monitor consistency in the mathematics curriculum and assisted district administrators in the training of staff. Prior to her work in Great Valley, Pierce was an alternative education supervisor in the Twin Valley School District where she was also a secondary mathematics teacher.

“Mandy has already demonstrated strong leadership skills in Great Valley,” said Superintendent Alan Lonoconus. “She is a collaborative problem solver who works well with teachers to find solutions for students. We look forward to the good work we know she will do as assistant principal.”
