GVHS Bomb Threat: One of the biggest school stories of 2013 occurred when the year was less than two weeks old. A bomb threat was called in to Great Valley High School on Jan 11. Police later reviewed the threat and found that there was no reason for concern at the school.

GVHS Make's US World and News "Best Of" List: The school, Great Valley School District's only high school, ranked number 710 in the magazine's nationwide standings. More than 21,000 public high schools were evaluated as the list was created.

St. Patrick Named Blue Ribbon School: St. Patrick School, a private, Catholic k-8 school in the borough, has been recognized at a 2013 National Blue Ribbon school, based on its academic record. The distinction places the school in the top 15 percent for reading and math comprehension in its students.
