No required: Enrollment in for the 2012-13 school year is a nice, round number—4,000.
That number is down 29 students compared to last year, district business director Charles Linderman told the school board Monday night.
There are 1,766 students total in the elementary schools, which is exactly the number projected before the official count was taken on the third day of this school year. The middle school and high school numbers came in a bit under projections.
"On the third day of school, all classes were within the class size guidelines, with the exception of one fifth-grade at General Wayne with 27 [students]," Linderman said.
Linderman said he would elaborate on the enrollment numbers at the budget workshop on Sept. 24.
