Villa Maria Coach Notches 500th Win

Basketball coach Kathy McCartney took her 500th as the Hurricane's topped Sacred Heart Tuesday, according to the Daily Local.

The Daily Local reported Tuesday that Villa Maria Academy High School head basketball coach Kathy McCartney notched her 500th career win Tuesday night.

The victory over Sacred Heart was played before a crowd packed with alumnae and fans, including one young fan who was eager to hit the hardwood even while the game was being played, according to the article.

McCartney, now in her 27th year with Villa Maria, hit a prestigious milestone on Tuesday as she became just the 22nd high school girls basketball coach in Pennsylvania history to record her 500th career win.
A packed crowd turned out at Villa Maria to root her on and celebrate her achievement. It included former players, family, and former coaches.
All of them spoke glowingly about not only the type of coach McCartney is, but the special human being she is as well.
