Ten games, two days, first year. The First Annual Route 29 Series is now history.

Home field advantage may have played a part. When it was all said and done and played, the first Route 29 Series went to Great Valley 9-1 Friday and Saturday.

With just over two minutes to play in the game the Patriots football team took a 7-6 lead as raindrops started to fall (it never turned into anything serious) and some fans headed for the cars and shelter. For the vast majority who stayed they saw a nail biter turn into a win as Great Valley got the ball and ran out the clock. With 2:14 to go Great Valley recovered a Phoenixville fumble and worked their way across the goal line. With the extra point the game was done.

Final Score Great Valley 14- Phoenixville 6

Only the Phoenixville Field Hockey team was able to put one in the win column in the first annual Route 29 Series which saw every fall varsity sports team play against Great Valley down the road at Great Valley on Friday and Saturday.

Next year the series moves to Phoenixville where all the games will be played on the Phantoms' home turf.
