Friday at Lunch: Learn How To Commute by Bike

The TMACC will detail car-free commuting options, including a new bike-share program, at Penn State Great Valley.

Great Valley area employees have a new option for lunch time—borrow a bike and explore the local trails.

In honor of Earth Day, Friends of the Chester Valley Trail will lead a discussion Friday afternoon on "Bike Your Town." The free event, hosted by the Transportation Management Authority of Chester County, will take place at Penn State Great Valley beginning at noon.

The Friends will talk about the progress made on the relatively new Chester Valley Trail, which runs through East Whiteland. It will eventually connect Downingtown to Montgomery County. There are plans to enhance the part of the trail that's already done with signage conveying geographic information—including what businesses and landmarks are nearby.

"[Chester Valley Trail] really a pretty outstanding piece of infrastructure we have now that we did not have in the past," said TMACC operations manager Paul DesRocher.

A new bike share program, run by Bike Pottstown, will allow people who work in the area but don't keep a bike at the office to borrow a set of wheels for a quick ride.
