Hanse, Bloomberg TV Hit the Links at Applebrook

Willistown's resident Olympic golf course designer, Gil Hanse, played a round with a Bloomberg reporter at Applebrook Golf Club in East Goshen.

Gil Hanse made international headlines over the summer when he was chosen to design the golf course for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio:

Hanse Golf Course Design, based in Willistown, has been in business since 1993. When the news broke that his company had been selected for the Olympic course, Hanse was in Miami, renovating a course owned by Donald Trump. He told the Associated Press that he was honored, humbled and "a little bit stunned by the whole thing."

Applebrook, located within putting distance of Willistown, is one of the nearby courses Hanse designed, along with Inniscrone and French Creek.

In the Bloomberg TV video, he discusses how he beat out big-name competition and which of the other firms called to congratulate him. Getting his wife and daughter on board actually went hand-in-hand with proving his dedication to the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee, he told the interviewer.

"If you can convince a 15-year-old girl to leave her friends, move to Rio, that's about as much commitment as anybody can have," Hanse said.
