Registration Is Open for Annual Butterfly Run

You might have already noticed the lawn signs around town—the is back again for its 12th year. Registration is now open for the 5k run, which is held at Great Valley High School.

At last year's run—a , to be sure—the event organizers introduced Chrono Track Chip Timing to increase accuracy, and they will continue to use chip timing this year.

Here are the details from organizers:

WHAT:
The Butterfly Run is an annual 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Run held on the campus of Great Valley High School. Age groups include 12 & Under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over. Awards are given in the following categories for the 5K Run:
• 1st place overall male and female: $200 each
• 2nd place overall male and female: $100 each
• 3rd place overall male and female: $50 each

Now in its 11th year, The Butterfly Run is the number one source of funding for the Elizabeth Ciunci Scholarship Fund, which is offered to graduating seniors at Great Valley High School who are looking to enter the field of early childhood education. Elizabeth, a graduate of Great Valley High School, was just 18-years old when a drunk driver tragically ended her life in 1999. At the time of her death, she was attending college, studying early childhood education with a focus on special education. Liz’s family and friends created a foundation and scholarship in her name to continue her desire to help others.

• Race Day registration starts at 7:30 am
• 5K Run/Walk starts at 9:00 am
• 1 Mile Fun Run starts at 9:05 am
