Video: Flash Mob Dances to 'Thriller' at Farmers Market Thursday

A Michael Jackson medley was the soundtrack for a phalanx of dancers at East Goshen Park.

About 100 performers from 180 Dance Company formed a flash mob at East Goshen Farmers Market Thursday afternoon, dancing to a medley of Michael Jackson songs.

founder Thais Da Silva shot the above video from her vending truck. The dance company also had a professional videographer at the performance, but that video is not yet available. The dance company posted a gallery of still photos to its Facebook page.

Even before the dancers migrated over from the other side of the park, the market was packed with people, O'Neill said. Many of them had visited the market the previous week and received a card saying something along the lines of, "Rumors... Believe what you hear. Something big at the market at 4 p.m. next week."

Back in June, the dance company had posted a vague invitation to participate on its website:

Get your dancing shoes on and join us in a flash mob dance performance! Free dance instruction! All ages welcome! Rehearsals on Wednesday, August 29 from 6-9pm and performance in West Chester, Pa on Thursday, Sept 6.  To sign-up for the flash mob, please use the form below.

"It was great. Absolutely fantastic," O'Neill said. "We can't thank them enough for picking us."

Annoying? Good old-fashioned fun from a group of well-behaved, clean and fit youngsters spreading spontaneous joy? Hey, Jared, didn't you ever hear of barn dances? Farmers dance too! And pigs and cows and cats and dogs! Just watch a bunch of the old Farmer Alfalfa cartoons! We need more music flash mobs in this world! Beware, Jared. I just might enlist my grandkids and do one myself in the Malvern area! You've been warned!!! Cha Cha Cha!
