GVFL - Community Building

It's that sense of community that makes what we do a little bit different.

From the time that I first went to football games as a kid when my father was a high school football coach, it always seemed that it was more than just a game.  It was something that people did that brought the community together.  At that time it was Saturday afternoons.  Now the high school games are almost all on Friday nights, but the Great Valley football program as a whole has that sense of community as well.  And in our youth program we'd like to think that we bring that sense of community to what we do too.

Our program is supported by local businesses like the Office, Dairy Queen and ShoppeFlare, just to name a few.  We in turn hold registration events at these places, or sell merchandise or just get together there to be out in the community.  That gives the GVFL presence in the community and also allows us to thank them for their support.

We also try to foster that sense of community by hosting our games at the high school with all of our teams playing on the same day.  It can make for a long day for some parents, but it's a great atmosphere for all the kids involved.  And it gets the kids over to the middle school/high school so they feel a part of Great Valley - not just Charlestown or Sugartown.

Our program is also a part of the football community, working closely with the middle school and high school programs to ensure that all the kids playing and cheering know that they are part of something bigger.

So as we move into the summer months, with football just around the corner, keep your eye out for all those kids in GV Youth Football and Cheerleading t-shirts.  It's that sense of community that makes what we do a little bit different.

We are looking for just a few more 7 & 8 yr olds who want to get involved with GVFL so that we can add a 2nd team.  Great opportunity to play and learn with friends.  Registration info at www.gvfl.org
