Valley on Three. 1-2-3 Valley!

Great Valley Youth Football Night - an early season highlight

Well the Great Valley Youth Football League is off to another great start.  Over 200 boys and girls cheering and playing football with ages ranging from 4 (don’t know how they snuck in) to 13.  And so as the season gets going, there have already been some great moments.  35 Flag football players were out on the turf playing in their first game this past weekend.  I honestly think that if given the choice between going to an Eagles game and helping these little ones, I might actually leave the Eagles to themselves.    Then there are the cheerleaders…Not only do they look amazing in their blue and white uniforms and their matching bows, but they are amazing with their cheers.  I told some of them that if our football teams were that good, we might not lose a game.

But for me the highlight of the early season was the Youth Football Night at Great Valley High School last week.  It was a gorgeous night for football which always gets it off to a great start.  Seeing the GV Junior Patriot players line up to greet the coaches and team when they came in was great.  I’m sure some of the little ones were amazed at how big the high school kids were, but I also know that it meant a lot to the high school kids too.  You could almost hear them saying to themselves “was I that small when I first started playing football?  I had to have been bigger than that!”  What’s funny is that they weren’t.  I remember some of them when they were that little.  I coached a few of them.

But it’s a little different now because our kids are all playing for Great Valley which wasn’t always the case.  Everybody in Royal Blue – high school and the youth program – flag, tackle and Cheerleaders.    What a great night to come together and celebrate Great Valley Football.  Valley on Three – 1-2-3 Valley!
