Applebrook Meadows Takes Step Backward

Toll Brothers failed to meet a condition of its land development approval, stoking Willistown supervisors' wariness about the development.

Back in October, Willistown granted a land development request to Toll Brothers for the second phase of its Applebrook Meadows development, contingent on eight conditions. The one condition tacked on at the last minute—a third-party perc test—proved to be a sticking point for the developer. At its Feb. 11 meeting, Toll Brothers representatives were back before the Board of Supervisors with an upgraded, costlier water management plan, again seeking land development approval for Phase II, which would add 53 new houses on the way to a total of 138. Instead, they got a pop quiz and were told their request would be tabled pending review by the township solicitor. Alyson Zarro, who represented Toll Brothers at the meeting, said the new plan …

....."The bottom line is, the PNDI site is very critical. The state of Pennsylvania recognizes there are rare and endangered or threatened species there. The township recognizes it's worth protecting.".... Well, the Township should have tabled the 1st Phase of this development in the first place. Applebrook Meadows Phase II Gets Conditional Approval

Willistown Supervisors to Vote on Applebrook Meadows Phase II

Toll Brothers plans to build 139 luxury homes near the intersection of Line Road and Paoli Pike.

At its Monday night meeting, the Willistown Board of Supervisors is expected to vote on approval of the second phase of a large residential development on the township's western edge. Applebrook Meadows is a Toll Brothers development located off Line Road south of Paoli Pike. The full, three-phase development plan calls for 139 new units in a "luxury carriage home community," according to the Toll Brothers' website. Thirty-six of the homes have already sold.  The Oct. 8 meeting will determine whether the project continues to expand to its planned size, according to the meeting agenda (PDF): In 2011, the board voted 2-0 to approve Phase I of the project, which included 54 homes, 36 of which have since sold. Supervisor Robert Lange abstained…
