Chesco Horse Diagnosed with West Nile Virus

Five other Pennsylvania counties also had positive equine tests for the virus, according to a state agency.

Pennsylvania's West Nile Control Program announced Tuesday that it has found six equine cases of West Nile Virus in the state, including one in Chester County. The Chester County horse was located on a farm in West Caln Township, according to Chester County Communications Director Rebecca Brain. No other information about the horse's condition was immediately available. The six counties with positive equine tests for West Nile Virus are: West Nile Virus has been found in mosquitoes in numerous Chester County towns. In July, a 59-year-old West Nottingham Township man became the first county resident since 2008 to be diagnosed with the virus.

Reports: Deceptive Horse 'Rescuer' Worked Briefly in Malvern

Kelsey Lefever, 24, of Honeybrook, allegedly told horse owners she'd find good homes for the thoroughbreds she sold to slaughterhouses.

A 24-year-old Chester County woman has been accused of selling to slaughterhouses horses for whom she'd promised to find good homes, according to multiple news sources. Kelsey Lefever, of Honeybrook, allegedly sent multiple horses to a Canadian slaughterhouse after agreeing not to do so. The Philadelphia Inquirer notes that Lefever worked briefly as a trainer and riding instructor in Charlestown Township even after the charges were filed: Connor Langan, trainer and manager at Great Scott horse farm in Malvern, said he checked out Lefever's references before he hired her as a trainer and riding instructor just before Christmas. The Horses Are Coming to Devon

Horses, vendors, volunteers and fans from across the nation and at least three countries prepare to descend on Devon.

The Devon Horse Show opens Thursday on Lancaster Avenue in Devon. The storied grounds are abuzz with vendors, volunteers, carnival workers and equestrians of all types. Horse Show Manager David Distler says horses from as far away as Canada, California and Colorado will begin arriving today. Patch will have pictures, stories and special looks at Devon history throughout the horse show which opens Thursday and runs through June 5. Radnor Hunt Races Coming This Weekend

The first race of six is at 1:30 p.m.

Radnor Hunt Races return to Willistown Saturday for its 81st year. The gates open at 9 a.m. and the first race starts at 1:30 p.m. The final race is at 4:50 p.m. Check out the full race schedule and contest information.
