Blotter: Wallet Goes Missing at Filling Station

The following information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Theft... On Aug. 31, a patron at the Exxon Station on West King Street left his wallet on the counter. A surveillance video shows another person taking the wallet, which contained credit cards and a small amount of cash.  Note: Mark your calendar—The Malvern Fire Company September 11th Memorial & Public Safety Day is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 15. There will be a helicopter and vehicle rescue demonstrations, plus food and a chance for kids to wield the fire hose. Blotter: Bright Orange Thief Stole Children's Meds

The following information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Retail theft… On Aug. 23, between 11:30 a.m. and 12:52 p.m., a man stole $196 worth of non-prescription medicine from the aisles of Kohlerman Pharmacy. The man, described as a tall black male with a slender build, was wearing black pants and a bright orange shirt, carrying a backpack. He stole numerous items, including children’s Tylenol and Motrin. Retail theft… Also on Aug. 23, just prior to the theft from Kohlerman Pharmacy, a man matching the description above stole $66 in medicines from the Wawa next door, in the Malvern Shopping Center. The items taken included Robitussin, Advil, Afrin and Alka Seltzer. Both thefts are under investigation. Surveillance footage from the Wawa will be posted to Malvern Patch if it becomes available.

Blotter: Smoking Burglar on West King, Street Sign Stolen

The following arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Criminal mischief... On Aug. 7, police received a report that someone had broken into the abandoned home near on the 100 block of Old Lincoln Highway, near the Bridge Street intersection. The break-in happened some time between July 31 and the date of the report. The storm door was removed, but the intruder likely didn't go into the home due to rotted floorboards. A sculpture in front of the house, valued at $200, was shattered.  Harassment... On Aug. 13, police charged a contractor working at Malvern Pizza with harassment. The man was demanding money for his work on the driveway area, but the business owners said the work was not completed to their satisfaction, and they would pay when it was fixed.  Theft… On Aug. 13, police received a …

Blotter: Hungarian Jeep Wrangler

The following arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Fraud… On July 31, a resident of Church Street in Malvern reported to police that he had been a victim of online fraud. He had attemped to purchase a 2003 Jeep Wrangler on eBay and sent a check for $5,000 to the seller. The man never received the vehicle, and bank documents revealed the money had been transfered to an account in Budapest, Hungary. Bad check… On Aug. 3, Anthony’s restaurant reported that they'd received a bad check for $19.03 on July 15.  Bad check… A Malvern resident paid with bad checks at Robert Michael Salon on July 17 and 18. The checks, which bore the woman's real name and totaled $170, both bounced.

Blotter: Dodge Ram Rams Toyota

DUI... On July 22 at 5:46 p.m., police stopped a 50-year-old Malvern resident for erratic driving on Prospect Avenue. The man failed a field sobriety test and was transported to Paoli Hospital for blood tests. The charges indicate it was his third DUI.  Theft… A resident of the 200 block of East King Street reported that, some time between July 20 and 21, his vehicle was broken into. Approximately $50 cash and $400 in CDs were taken.  Burglary… A resident of the 200 block of Woodland Avenue reported that his home was burglarized some time between July 24 at 10:30 p.m. and July 25 at 8:30 a.m. The homeowner said that $10,137 in camera equipment, sunglasses, fishing equipment and other items was taken from his detached garage. Blotter: Theft from Gables After Owner's Death

The following arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary… Approximately $580 worth of tools and equipment was stolen from the property of Gables Greenhouse at 217 S. Warren Ave. Among the stolen items were an air compressor, a generator, a power washer and a push mower. Art Gable, who owned and operated the business, died July 14. Public Drunkenness… On July 16 at 2:25 a.m., an officer spotted a Ford F-150 truck parked in Malvern Shopping Center, not in a designated spot. A 50-year-old West Chester man who was sleeping inside the truck began shouting when the officer roused him. He was arrested for public drunkenness.  Theft… On July 19, a resident of the 100 block of Crestside Way reported theft from two vehicles parked in front of the home. Blotter: Drunk at the Fair, Pepsi Thief

The following arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary… On July 10, police arrested a 48-year-old man for burglary after he broke into the home of his ex-wife and took two cans of Pepsi from the refrigerator. The ex-wife's boyfriend, who also lives at the residence, returned to the home around 3:30 p.m. to find the man leaving. The alleged burglar told police he had come to the home looking for a game for his daughter. The soda was valued at $3. Underage drinking… On July 10, around 9:30 p.m., two juveniles were charged with underage drinking. Officers patroling the Malvern Fire Company Fair spotted the boys, ages 15 and 17, at the back of the field near the woods. The boys appeared intoxicated, according to police, and the 15-year-old had wet himself and had vomit on his clothes. He …

Blotter: Stolen Jewelry, Replica .45, SEPTA Drunk

The following arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Retail theft… Police are investigating the theft of approximately $200 worth of jewelery and accessories from Note Bene Boutique that occurred on or before June 29.  Drugs, weapons charges... A 17-year-old male on the 200 block of West King Street was arrested July 9 for possession of drugs, possession of firearm by a minor and receiving stolen property. The boy reportedly had a heroin problem, and was in possession of a replica of a Civil War-era, 45-caliber black powder revolver.  Bad check... Police responded to a report of a person who gave two bad checks—one for $16 and another later in the day for $17—on June 8. Disorderly conduct... A 26-year-old man on the 100 block of West King Street was cited for disorderly conduct after police …

Police Blotter: Stolen Stihl

The following arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary… On June 26, police investigated a disturbance at Madison Construction on Quaker Lane. A window had been broken and a door had been opened from the inside. Approximately $1,900 worth of equipment was missing.  Assault… On July 1, police arrested Sean Simpson, of the 200 block on Valley View Road, on charges of aggravated assault. Simpson, 32, allegedly shoved his mother to the ground and assaulted a neighbor, who subsequently went to the emergency room. He was arraigned before Judge Chester Darlington and transported to county jail when he was unable to post $20,000 cash bail. Blotter: Tunnel of 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'

DUI… On June 12, 1:05 a.m., an officer parked in a driveway observed an SUV with a flat tire approaching. The officer stopped the vehicle, and smelled alcohol on the driver, an 18-year-old Malvern resident. The driver said he didn't know how to change a tire, so he decided to drive on it. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Paoli Hospital for blood tests. Theft… On June 18, a 35-year-old Oaks woman passed a bad check for $23.75 while paying for a subscription at Kohlerman Pharmacy. After being notified that the check had bounced, the woman said she would stop back to repay the bill, but failed to do so. She is charged with theft by deception and receiving stolen property.
