Stuck Truck Closes Warren Avenue

Update: The scene has been cleared after an oversized truck became lodged beneath the SEPTA train track overpass on Warren Avenue in Malvern Borough on Monday afternoon.

Update 2:20 p.m.: The truck has been cleared and the roadway is reopened to traffic. According to police, the commercial truck belongs to Carter Mechanical. The 11-foot-6-inch truck was empty and heading north when it attempted to navigate the underpass, which has an 8-foot-6-inch clearance.  East Whiteland Police assisted borough police at the scene of the accident, and Abel Brothers towed the damaged truck from the scene at 2:13 p.m. Officer Cordone said the bridge appeared to have sustained cosmetic damage, and he would alert SEPTA to the accident, so they could send out someone to inspect it more closely. Blotter: Tunnel of 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'

The following arrest information was supplied by the Malvern Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

DUI… On June 12, 1:05 a.m., an officer parked in a driveway observed an SUV with a flat tire approaching. The officer stopped the vehicle, and smelled alcohol on the driver, an 18-year-old Malvern resident. The driver said he didn't know how to change a tire, so he decided to drive on it. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Paoli Hospital for blood tests. Theft… On June 18, a 35-year-old Oaks woman passed a bad check for $23.75 while paying for a subscription at Kohlerman Pharmacy. After being notified that the check had bounced, the woman said she would stop back to repay the bill, but failed to do so. She is charged with theft by deception and receiving stolen property. Criminal mischief… An unknown person drove on the field …

Regional Rail Schedule Changes Start Sunday

The new schedules are available on SEPTA's website.

Check the schedule before heading for your SEPTA regional rail train next Monday morning. SEPTA will be changing many of its regional rail schedules starting April 1. The new schedules are posted at stations and are available online. See the Paoli Thorndale schedule in the PDF section of this article.
