Ignore a Flood Roadblock, Get Fined?

Do you think drivers who ignore flood roadblocks and need to be rescued should be fined?

Major storms inevitably bring stories of drivers who ignore flood roadblocks and end up needing rescue by emergency crews. Now, Pennsylvania lawmakers are considering a bill that would levy fines on drivers who disregard the familiar warning to "turn around, don't drown." The bill would impose: What do you think? Video: Scenes From Malvern Public Safety Day

A video and photo gallery from the annual event hosted by Malvern Fire Company.

What do you get when you combine a group of emergency responders from Malvern and nearby municipalities, members of the public, a helicopter and a Queen "Greatest Hits" album? The answer is the 10th annual Malvern Public Safety Day and Open House, held Saturday at Malvern Fire Company. Dozens of local families came out to enjoy some free food, check out the big fire trucks and watch firefighters extinguish a blazing house fire. The event took place from noon to 4 p.m., and a few rain drops fell just as the trucks rolled out at the conclusion. An emergency situation that occurred in a nearby town kept some scheduled guests, including the Pennsylvania State Police, from attending. Plenty of others were able to make it, though, including …
