West Whiteland Gets New Police Chief

A 35-year veteran of the police force will take the reigns.

West Whiteland has a new head of its police department.

The township Board of Supervisors promoted Lieutenant Joseph Catoy to "acting Chief of Police" at a recent meeting.

According to a release from the department, Catoy is a 35-year veteran of the police department, serving as a patrol officer, detective and administrative lieutenant prior to his new position.

Catov will oversee all facets of the police department, to include budgeting, planning, personnel administration, policy development, and stakeholder relations. 

A graduate of West Chester University, Catov completed the training regimen at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, along with other training courses from Penn State.  He will succeed Chief Stephen Meacham as the fourth Chief of Police of West Whiteland Township upon Meacham’s official retirement in November.
